Lix Bio Jay
Jay Landgraf
Age: 22
Plays: Tama Rock Star Drum Kit/Peavey 5-piece drum mic set
Influences: John Bonham, Neil Pert, and Buddy Rich
Jay has been a drummer since the age of 10 when he first began to play the
snare. He continued to play simple percussion instruments until the age of 12 when
he was given his first drum set. Having been self taught, he first tried imitating
the beats of the popular bands of the time e.g. Nirvana and Pearl Jam. Then, after
discovering his father’s Led Zeppelin albums, he began to get serious. Never
realizing, prior to his discovery, how heavy and influential a drummer could be to
a rock band, he began practicing tenaciously. Often heard for several hours a day
just trying to imitate a Zeppelin beat, Jay was getting recognized by both friends
and family as having some real natural talent. He continued to play the drums into
high school where he played in a few bands until eventually forming “Lix”. However,
lacking a lead singer the band was unsure what they where going to do to fill that
much needed spot, which is when Jay decided to take on the challenge. Having
natural talent for the drums Jay worked hard on his vocals, and has since become a
quality singer. He continues to amaze people every show because he doesn’t just sing
well, he doesn’t just play well, he does them both at the same time. Since “Lix” was
formed he has also learned to play the guitar and can be heard playing rhythm on some
of their recent tracks. Live however, you’ll only find him seated behind that kick
drum, rocking out like only he can.
